Will you post any upcoming event
for free?
Generally, if admission is charged to attend an event, then we
charge for promoting it regardless of whether your organization is
not-for-profit. There are costs involved both online and in print
that prompt this policy -- ink, newsprint, postage, website servers,
access registration and fees -- even if we choose to donate the
labor and operational expense each requires. So, if you charge, we
charge.
Can
I submit an article to promote my business?
Adverting is, after all, advertising. This website provides news
content without fee to viewers to encourage viewership and greater
exposure for those with business messages. Thus, we depend on
advertising revenue and offer cost-effective online/print promotions
at competitive rates. You may submit news releases and promotional
pieces but these will be used solely at our discretion.
What's timely?
News should be printed immediately
after an event. Anything not reported immediately following an event
may or may not be published. In print editions, we will publish a
news article no more than two times (once well in advance of an
event, again during the week of the event). If a business,
organization or individual wants an article published in print
editions more than twice, the article can be printed as an
advertisement.
What about submitted photos?
Unless specifically prohibited, digital images submitted for
publication, excluding studio photos, will be posted in Gallatin
Publishing Company online photo galleries and made available for
purchase.
Is everything submitted online
also in print editions?
No. Generally, you will find policies more relaxed concerning data
posted online (unlimited text space) rather than what you might read
in print (limited space). Therefore, we are much more selective
about what is chosen to be printed in newsprint editions.
